Challenge

Big Bang Honey of Holmdel, NJ sells bees in a five framed nucleus colony (nuc), although they did not have an established web presence or marketing strategy. Scarlet Consulting recognized an opportunity to assist. A shoestring budget was available for this project and because of budget restraints, time for development was also limited too.

Strategy

Scarlet Consulting recognized that in order to make income with Big Bang Honey, we would first have to generate a substantial income for them. Big Bang Honey does a great job at harvesting bees, and with Scarlet Consulting ecommerce skills, they would be able to sell those bees they harvest. Once the funnel is created and confidence was acquired from our client, marketing dollars could be invested to generate a return.

Approach

Getting a website up quickly and at little or no cost was a priority for this project. In order to do so, I leveraged WordPress and Avada’s theme package and decided to host a free website on Cloudflare Pages. To do so, Simply Static wordpress plugin was used to generate static pages from WordPress.

Scarlet Consulting was able to then rapidly develop this project and link it to SquareUp.com, a credit card processor. Google Analytics was installed and the site was advertised using Google Adwords. $27 later, the first $400 sale was made in a two week turnaround. Big Bang Honey is now on track to make a “Big Bang” in the bee world.

Website Development

Development was done on WordPress installed on a LAMP web server. Static files were generated from wordpress and deployed to a decentralized cloud.

Keyword Research

We came up with a list of competitive keywords for Google Adwords using Google Adwords AI keyword generation. As the budget was implemented for advertising keywords were monitor

Content Writing

Once the layout was selected, we converted it from a food/restaurant website to a bee farm/apiary website. Content was edited with the owner of Big Bang Honey in nightly “power hour” sessions using Avada’s Live editor.

Website Optimization

Because the website was hosted on Cloudflare Pages as a static HTML/CSS/Javascript webpage, it is able to handle a substantial load for no upfront costs.
